I’d been wanting to buy Jackson a puppet theatre for a while, but I couldn’t find any that weren’t tiny or made of cardboard. So while in the garage I saw an old IKEA DVD rack just laying around and got to thinking.
I had some extra black paint, colored chalk, hot glue, a spare piece of thin plywood and a rough idea of what it should look like. The next day I went to the store and got a half yard of velvet fabric and was on my way. That was it, that was all I needed. I ended up only needing 5 out if the 21 dowels for support, I hot glued the in and sewed the curtains loosely to the dowels. After painting the plywood, I hot glued it on the rack and clamped it down until it dried. Grabbed some colored chalk and we were done. Jackson loves it, it was almost free to make and I can chalk in whatever “show” happens to be playing that day.
My amazing sister Tati hand drew and then painted this Dr. Seuss themed room. It’s almost done, we just need some quilts and touches to be added. So far what we’ve got is the Cat in the Hat, Horton, the Lorax, Thing 1 and Thing 2, the Red fish, the Grinch and Max and the world from Oh, the places you’ll go. Jackson loves it and so do we, can’t wait to see it when it’s all finished.
